VOLUNTEERING IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC

This year’s UK Voluntary Sector Studies Network (VSSN) Spring day conference is hosted by the Institute for Volunteering Research at University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, in collaboration with the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) and the International Forum for Volunteering in Development (FORUM) and the Third Sector Research Centre (TSRC), UK. The event will be online, in three sessions, for up to 450 viewers per session. The event is free but timely registration is required.

We will hear from 15 panellists from around the globe what difference voluntary action makes during and after COVID-19 pandemic. Viewers will have a chance to post questions and comments, in real time, in writing, in an online chat function. This day conference specifically aims to explore:
• diverse international perspective
• alternative approaches to the pandemic
• suggestions of what can be learned from the various approaches.

In each 90-minute session, after a short introduction by the chair of the session host, we will broadcast five pre-recorded position statements from panellists and then have a panel discussion responding to comments and questions viewers post in the chat.
