Booking is now open for the Next New Researchers online session, 12-1pm (UK time) on Tuesday the 21st of July 2026. Click here: Booking Link
This session will focus on the upcoming Voluntary Sector and Volunteering Research (VSVR) conference to be held in Bristol 8th-10th September (for more info, see: https://www.vssn.org.uk/2026-voluntary-sector-and-volunteering-research-conference/).
We’re very happy to be joined by two of the organisers of the conference who will talk about both the New Researchers Day and the main conference itself, including what to expect if you’re presenting. We’ll also have some time to talk more generally about experiences at academic (and non-academic) conferences too.
  • Dr Jane Cullingworth is a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow and a longtime volunteer with VSSN, including as Co-Chair of trustees. Jane will go over plans for the New Researchers Day, including some new initiatives for this year.
  • Dr Vita Terry is currently Co-Chair of trustees at VSSN and Action Research Fellow at Black Mountains College. Vita will explain how the main conference works and the differences in comparison with the New Researchers Day. Vita will also offer some tips for getting the most out of conferences that can be applied to any that you might go to in future.
We hope to see you there!
