Challenges of governance for small voluntary organisations
Nunan, Kevin (2010)

The academic and practitioner literature pays little attention to the distinctive issues of governance found in small voluntary organisations. There are three key factors in developing more effective boards – board assessment, governance development and the relationship between
the senior staff member and the members of the board. Board effectiveness is also constrained by regulation – by the Charity Commission, Companies House and wider legislation. More evidence is needed to enable small organisations to address these challenges.
