VSSN clones discovered in cyberspace

What does "VSSN" stand for? This fundamental research question was thrown into sharp relief today as the latest batch of updates to this Web site were being processed and published as part of the Web Officer's regular routine.

Our fame is clearly growing far and wide around cyberspace. We recently had a Web site contribution from another VSSN - in Nepal! Did you know that we had an Asian rival for our acronym by the name of Voluntary Service and Support Nepal? Well we do, and it's involved in voluntary action too, as a quick visit to their web site at http://www.volunteer-nepal.org/ will show.

But, the plot thickens. According to a free online dictionary, "VSSN" also stands for Victorian Secondary Student Network and Virtual Sprint Service Node. And a Google search for "VSSN" will throw up Video Surveillance & Sensor Networks as well! Not that these clones seem to warrant legal action against impersonation such as in the case of The Beatles' Apple Corp. against the mighty Apple Computer Inc.

Anyway, we still get listed at the top of a Google search for "VSSN" and "Voluntary Sector Studies Network", so we can't be doing too badly in comparison with those other VSSNs in cyberspace...
