Members' directories now in preparation

Gareth Morgan writes (to paid up members of VSSN 2006/07):-

"I am now pleased to invite you to submit your details for the VSSN MEMBERS' RESEARCH DIRECTORY 2007.

There is also an opportunity to submit information for VSSN COURSES DIRECTORY if you are involved in any taught HE courses in the UK specific to the voluntary sector.

Every alternate year since 2002/03, VSSN has published a directory of members' research interests. This is a key resource in enabling VSSN members to contact one another and to find out about each other's specific work.

The final publication will be a booklet, A5 size, with a page for each member.

We hope to launch the 2007 Directory at the VSSN Day Conference on 16 May 2007, and copies should be mailed to all members by the end of May.

The directory is only circulated to paid up VSSN members - the information will NOT be published online. We realise this is important as a number of VSSN members are based at home addresses which they may not wish to be published more widely. Nevertheless, by returning an entry, you are giving consent to disclose the information to other paid-up VSSN members. (Once the directory is published, VSSN members may also request an electronic copy - e.g. to facilitate searching.)

We are also hoping, for the first time, to collect a complete list of courses in UK universities or other higher education establishments where the course title or content is SPECIFICALLY concerned with the voluntary sector. Courses can be at undergraduate or postgraduate level - but please don't include short courses (non-credit-bearing) or research degrees (MPhil/PhD).

This will NOT be published in booklet form, but will be edited into an online document and will be published on the VSSN web site - so do not include anything personal or confidential. Steering Group member Cathy Pharoah will be co-ordinating this."

All members should have received further details by email by 30 April 2007,but if not please mail marketing@vssn.org.uk (Rob Macmillan) as soon as possible.
