NCVO/VSSN conference success celebrated

The NCVO/VSSN "Researching the Voluntary Sector" conference closed today at Sheffield Hallam University. This year's conference attracted a record number of delegates from academic and voluntary sector-based organisations across the UK and beyond.

This was the first time that VSSN had partnered up with NCVO over the event, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the annual research conference. The success of the event means that this collaboration between NCVO and VSSN looked set to continue and develop in parallel with VSSN's ongoing development.

The progress made recently by VSSN was also marked by the 'official' announcement of this Web site at the conference. Unveiling the address www.vssn.org.uk for the first time in public, VSSN Secretary Jill Mordaunt reported on behalf of the network, in the opening plenary, on the 'soft launch' of the site. Delegates were encouraged to visit this site, join VSSN, and contribute to the evolutionary development process already under way.

See also the conference report on NCVO's Web site and NCVO's note on papers. Our thanks go to NCVO for this partnership.

Further news will appear on this site in the lead-up to the 2005 conference.
