Description of course The Social Sciences degree gives you the opportunity to study different subjects (social policy, psychology, history, politics and sociology), offering an interdisciplinary and multi-perspective approach to investigating society and people. Contemporary issues (such as health care, forensic psychology, cultural identity and political violence) are never simple to understand, but the degree programme provides a multi-layered analysis of such issues. In addition, new and returning students value the ability to select topics and modules to match their interests and needs in a flexible and coherent manner. Of particular relevance here is the offering of a new module, Social Justice Practice, which enables students to combine a placement at a voluntary sector organisation in the Medway area with theoretical study. This module is offered to Year 2 students, and runs across two terms.
The BSc in Social Sciences is taught at the Medway campus of the University of Kent.
