Description of course |
This entry level undergraduate Certificate, starting in October 2008,
offers a programme for practitioners and volunteers who want to better
understand the contexts in which they operate and to reflect on their
work and its significance. It will also interest those in other sectors
involved in inter-agency work with voluntary sector partners. It is
expected that most students will study part-time but there will also be
full-time study opportunities.
The programme focuses on key debates of current concern to voluntary and
community sector workers, considering recent policy and developments. It
aims to extend understanding and critical reflection of changes and
related organisational practices. There will be opportunities for
students to draw from practice based learning and to develop innovative
models in assignments relevant to their individual and organisational
interests. Together with core modules, students may also choose from a
range of options, for example in community action and leadership, London
studies, youth studies, social policy, management, social diversity.
There will be opportunities for exemption from modules through
accreditation of prior learning.
The Certificate will provide opportunities for further study with
progression routes into Degree level study. |
